SIP Integration with Your Own Phone Number
With SIP (Session Initiation Protocol) integration, you can connect your own phone number and existing phone system to HeyFred’s AI assistants. Think of it as a bridge between your current phone infrastructure and our platform. This means that you:
- Can continue to use your existing phone number(s) with our AI assistants
- Can keep your current phone system and provider
- Can make and receive calls through your existing setup, but with AI functionality
- Will retain full control over your numbers
- Can make calls at local, lower rates using your own VoIP provider
How It Works
What are the benefits and possibilities of linking your own phone number to HeyFred through SIP integration?
Incoming calls: When people call your existing phone number, those calls are forwarded to HeyFred's AI assistant via the SIP integration.
Outgoing calls: Your AI assistant can make calls using your own number.
Management: You'll continue to manage your numbers through your current provider.
Cost Savings: You benefit from competitive rates offered by your VoIP provider and the advantages of an AI assistant through our platform.
Integration Options
There are two ways to connect your phone number and phone system to Heyfred.nl:
1. PBX Expansion Integration
This functions as if you were adding an "extension" to your phone system through our AI platform. Perfect for:
- Testing the integration and your AI assistant.
- Routing Specific Extensions to the AI Assistant
- Easy setup with existing phone systems.
What you'll need:
- Your extension number (e.g., 201)
- Username and password for the extension.
- The address of your PBX server (e.g., pbx.yourcompany.com)
Example:
Your office uses extensions 200–299 for staff. You have set up extension 201 for the AI assistant. Calls to 201 are routed to the AI, and the AI can make outgoing calls using the number 201.
Direct Number / SIP Integration
This allows you to link a phone number directly to the platform. Perfect for:
- Dedicated AI Phone Lines
- Customer service or sales lines
What you'll need:
- Your phone number (e.g., +31 20 987 56 34)
- SIP information from your provider
- Your provider's SIP server address
Example:
You have a phone number: +31 20 987 56 34. You link this number to our platform and your AI assistant. Then:
- All incoming calls to +31 20 987 56 34 are answered by the AI assistant.
- The AI can make outbound calls that display +31 20 987 56 34 as the caller ID.
Bidirectional Configuration
With SIP integration, the same login credentials are used for both incoming and outgoing calls:
Inbound (VoIP → Heyfred.nl):
- Your VoIP system authenticates using a username and password.
- Calls reach the platform.
- The AI assistant answers.
Outbound (Heyfred.nl → VoIP):
- The AI initiates the call via your SIP.
- The platform authenticates with your VoIP provider using the same login credentials.
- The call reaches its destination.
Credential Synchronization
To ensure proper operation, make sure that:
- The login credentials in the Heyfred.nl dashboard exactly match your VoIP configuration.
- The username and password are the same for both inbound and outbound calls.
- If your password changes with your VoIP provider, you also update it in app.heyfred.nl (and vice versa).
